The Rev. Harold Davidson - Vicar of Stiffkey is buried in the churchyard. His downfall came when he was defrocked in 1932 after devoting his life to helping London stage girls but he was held in high regard with local people and remained very popular. However he had to leave the area and joined the circus. He died shortly after being mauled by a lion.
